Chlorpyriphos 20% E.C. is an organophosphate insecticide that disrupts the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, which normally breaks down the neurotransmitter acetylcholine in insects' nervous systems. By inhibiting this enzyme, Chlorpyriphos leads to a buildup of acetylcholine, causing excessive nervous system stimulation, paralysis, and ultimately the death of the insect.
